Dilemmas & Shanties

Relaxing after hard day - do I go for fun & frippery 'The September Issue', and watch fashionistas or do I go to BBC Four and a programme about sea songs and sea shanties of this land? I lasted five minutes of fashionland before switching into rooted music and melody of fishermen. Here's two shanties from Port Isaac in Cornwall. Music connecting to the land and sea.

  1. As a fellow suited pagan!I reasonate with your dilemma finding your first post which reflects the bridging between worlds and subsequent choices that entails as dear to my heart. For some reason circus images come to mind! A Juggler or tight rope walker. So can we all be wise fools? Dare to look over the edge and not just leap but fly? Of course in our suits!
And I can hear the sounds of the sea and land in your post ~ that will be in your body reasonating. Have you come across Hamish Miller who was from Cornwall and worked with Barry Brailsford. He speaks of the people's of Cornwall who had a deep relationship with land and especially sea. Which reflects the people who travelled the sea to New Zealand. There is a wonderful YouTube interview with Barry who speaks of people's who had a trust and knowing of the sea which modern people can only dream.
Welcome to Blogland! And I will investigate the programme. Oh and Barry is coming to Penzance in May 2011 ;o) XX Silver Fox
